2026-2027 commitees

Better Together Fundraiser

Last year, we took fundraising into our own hands—and it paid off! By running our own event, we kept 95% of the profits, all going straight back to our school and our students. 🙌

We’re doing it again for the 2026–2027 school year, and we’d love YOUR help to make it even bigger and better!

Let’s work together to support our school and have a great time doing it!

5th Grade Celebration

Helps 5th grade classes raise funds throughout the year, and plans entertainment and vending for their year-end "Celebration of Success" party.

Bee Hive

PTO helps organize volunteers to run this program. Our teachers and administrators manage student behavior according to the guidelines of a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) system at Monte Vista.  As part of that system, children can earn Honey Drops by demonstrating good behavior at school and then turn those Honey Drops in for Bees.  Once every other month, when the Bee Hive is open, kids may go down and "purchase" an item from the Bee Hive with their Bees as a reward for their good behavior. Volunteers manage the Bee Hive once a month, for one day, during school hours.  Tasks would include setting up the tables and items just after the morning bell, helping children choose items, and breakdown/clean up just before the afternoon bell rings to end the school day.  Helping with the Bee Hive provides a great opportunity to interact with students, teachers and administrators in a positive way!  This committee is not PTO funded.

Book Fair

Coordinates volunteers for set-up, sales & tear down at Book Fair. Also responsible for flyers, promos, posters, arranging Teacher and Class Previews, promotion via the School Library, managing Wish List donations, daily sales records and re-stocking orders. Plus all communication with the book company. Works closely with PTO Treasurer for daily sales records, cash box delivery and pickup.

Reading Wall

Assist Committee Chairs with decorating a school wall inside the school for this popular program. On the first Wednesday of the month volunteers help hand out free books to our proud readers on reward day!  Time commitment is approximately 45min/month.  Chairperson will contact you every month.

Fundraising Sponsorships

Volunteers perform business and community outreach to secure sponsorships supporting the PTO organization. Donations may be in the form of monetary donations, in-kind gifts, or catering donations.

Garden

Volunteers help with monthly trimming and clean-up of the KMV Heritage Garden (near the front office). Other responsibilities include refilling bird feeders and helping to maintain the decorative pond (pulling weeds, removing algae, cleaning filters). Working in our garden is a great way to get kids involved, too, and can be done on your schedule!

Hospitality

Do you enjoy making people feel welcome? Hospitality provides that extra special touch for Teachers during Parent/Teacher Conferences, PTO Meetings, Teacher Luncheons, Welcome Breakfast, Patriot Day Assembly, Teacher Appreciation Week, WatchDOGS kickoff and so many other social events. This committee is responsible for receiving donations of food & drinks from local businesses, reaching out to parents for homemade dishes as well as setting up/cleaning up before & after events.  Chairs and volunteers write thank you notes to donors for their generous contributions.

Movie Night

Movie Chairs help select movie, secure movie viewing rights, invite food vendor(s) and plan pre-movie activities. At past Movie Nights,  the Lions Roar Choir has been invited to perform before the movie begins.

Pumpkin Walk

One of Monte Vista’s most cherished traditions is our annual Pumpkin Walk! Students carve or paint pumpkins that are first displayed in our school halls, then glow outside to create a magical path leading to a fun-filled evening of games, food, and neighborhood excitement. This year, we’re bringing back more fun with a Trunk or Treat—giving families a chance to decorate their cars and hand out treats in a safe, spirited setting. Join the team to help plan and organize this festive celebration—it’s a highlight of the season and a great way to get involved!

Monty’s MakerSpace/STEM Lab

Monte Vista PTO launched the first-ever dedicated S.T.E.M. Lab in the Spring of 2024. A group of parent volunteers transformed a former unused classroom into a creative space for students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Every class will visit the lab to learn, create and explore. The students hands-on projects are made possible thanks to the generous support and donations of our MV families. You can help stock the room with basic items found on the Wish List below or drop off items in the office from empty toliet & paper rolls to toothpicks, legos and magnatiles. Join the committee that will continue the maintenance and expansion of Monty's MakerSpace.

Spring S.T.E.A.M. Night

Coordinate S.T.E.A.M. Night, where we encourage hands-on learning, teamwork, and exploration of STEM concepts in an interactive manner. Bring community members and MV families together to showcase activities around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Project Brainpower

Negotiates pricing and delivery/pickup of healthy snacks for 2nd - 5th graders during testing week and coordinates volunteers and daily deliveries to testing classrooms.

Lunch Lions

Time to take a bite out of this great opportunity to spend lunch recess with your child! Two volunteers every Tuesday & Thursday will report to school to assist kids in games and activities at lunch recess. This is also a GREAT opportunity for WatchDogs looking to spend more time on campus. All you do is show up ready to have fun! Sign up on Konstella under the Lunch Lions post on your News Feed (you may have to refresh/"load older posts").

WatchDOGS

Dads OGreat Students gives dads, step-dads, granddads, and/or other father-figures an opportunity to volunteer at their student’s school for the full day on a chosen date.  You'll help out in your child's classroom and other activities vary.  You might shelve books in the library, help with cafeteria, playground, and/or drop/pick-up duty, hang student work in the hallway for teachers, or read with a student that needs a little extra practice.

Marquee Chair

A two people team to manage the marquee from the front of the building.

Yearbook

Responsible for compiling and organizing the annual yearbook, including gathering photos, designing the book, and page layouts. Must be comfortable with digital photography, digital layouts and learning a computer program specific to the vendor selected for the yearbook. Oversees advertising, sales and distribution of a soft-bound, color yearbook 56-64 pages.

Everyone is automatically a member of the Monte Vista Elementary School PTO, simply by being a parent, guardian or teacher at our school! The PTO coordinates volunteer efforts for school activities and raises funds to support school programs that further enrich the experience of all students. Parent volunteers help with all types of school programs and learning activities. Thank you for all you do and let's make this school year a more rewarding experience for all our children.
